Police HomeCare is an Adelaide-based disability and aged care provider working in partnership with the Police Association of South Australia. The company provides in-home care while supporting the development of cutting edge digital technologies to improve comfort and safety for its clients.
We are currently seeking a full-time Software Engineer to join our growing engineering team and contribute to the ongoing development, deployment, and improvement of scalable internal and client-facing software platforms supporting healthcare and disability service delivery across Australia.
About the Role
The role will contribute to the delivery of platforms relating to telehealth communication, workforce coordination, operational automation, client engagement systems, and data management solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain web-based software applications and backend services
- Develop scalable applications using Python and modern web technologies
- Participate in system architecture, software design, and technical solution planning
- Build and maintain APIs, database integrations, and internal reporting systems
- Support cloud-based infrastructure and deployment environments
- Collaborate with operational and management teams to gather technical requirements and deliver software solutions
- Troubleshoot, optimise, and enhance system performance, reliability, and security
- Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes, documentation, and system scalability
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and agile development activities
Essential Requirements
- Bachelor degree or higher qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field
- At least two years of relevant post-qualification experience as a Software Engineer or Developer
- Strong experience in Python software development
- Experience with web application development using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Understanding of frontend and backend development principles
- Experience working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within a collaborative team environment
Highly Regarded
- Experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or AWS
- Experience with JavaScript frameworks or modern frontend technologies
- Experience with API integrations, automation systems, or DevOps practices
- Experience in healthcare, aged care, telehealth, disability, or assistive technology environments
- Experience developing scalable business systems, dashboards, or workflow automation tools

This position is based in Adelaide, South Australia. Applicants are expected to work from the Adelaide office as required for operational collaboration and project delivery.
