UE Tech builds software for the local government sector. We develop and maintain two main products: Monitor CRMS, an engagement platform used by councils, and DevCAP, an infrastructure / development contributions (ICP/DCP) administration package — alongside supporting applications and internal tools. We are a small, hands-on development team based in Brunswick.
The role
We are hiring a mid-level developer to work across our product portfolio. Monitor CRMS is currently being re-engineered from a legacy .NET Framework codebase to .NET 10, and you will contribute to both maintaining the existing applications and building out the new platform. This is a full-stack role on a small team — you will work across the back end, database, and front end with limited supervision, and have direct contact with customers to shape what gets built.
What you'll do
- Build, maintain, and extend C#/.NET applications (current target framework .NET 10)
- Work with SQL Server — writing and optimising queries, schema work, troubleshooting data issues
- Develop front-end features in React / Node.js
- Deploy and support applications running on Azure
- Design and implement complex business-rules logic, configurable workflows, and approval / administration processes
- Work directly with customers to understand their needs, clarify requirements, and translate them into technical solutions
- Diagnose and fix bugs across existing line-of-business applications
- Use AI-assisted development tools as a standard part of the workflow (this is core to how we work)
What we're looking for
- 1-2 years' commercial software development experience
- Solid C# / .NET skills, including maintaining and modernising existing codebases
- Working SQL Server experience (querying, schema, performance)
- Front-end experience with React and Node.js
- Familiarity with Azure-hosted applications
- Demonstrated experience building complex line-of-business applications — business-rules-heavy systems, configurable workflows, approvals, or regulatory / statutory process logic
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage non-technical stakeholders, draw out requirements, and explain technical concepts clearly
- Ability to work autonomously across the full stack on a small team
- Comfortable adopting AI-assisted development tools day to day
- A degree in computer science / software engineering, or equivalent commercial experience
Desirable
- Experience modernising legacy .NET Framework applications to current .NET
- Experience with CRM, planning, local-government, or public-sector software
- Familiarity with development contributions, planning schemes, or similar regulatory domains
