Disability Support Worker (Female) – High IntensitySupport | Chadstone, VIC
About the Role
We are seeking experienced and dedicated Female Disability Support Workers to support a teenage participant located in Chadstone.
The participant is a teenager attending a specialist school and has Level 3 Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The role requires supporting a participant with complex support needs, including behaviours of concern such as self-injurious behaviours and physical aggression towards others.
We are seeking highly skilled support workers who have extensive experience working with adolescents with complex behavioural presentations and who can provide consistent, structured, person-centred support while maintaining a safe environment for everyone involved.
Shifts Available School Days
- Morning Support: 6:00am – 8:00am
- Afternoon Support: 3:30pm – 7:30pm
Weekend Support
- Saturday: 700am – 7:00pm
- Sunday: 7:00am – 7:00pm
Multiple positions may be available to cover the roster.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement participant-specific support plans and behavioural strategies.
- Support morning routines, including personal care and preparation for school.
- Assist with after-school routines and structured activities.
- Provide community access and transport to activities where required.
- Facilitate meaningful engagement in recreational, educational and social activities.
- Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour support strategies.
- Maintain accurate and detailed progress notes and incident reporting.
- Follow restrictive practice protocols and Positive Behaviour Support Plans (PBSP).
- Work collaboratively with the participant's family, therapists and support team.
- Maintain participant dignity, choice and independence at all times.
Participant Support Requirements
The participant presents with:
- Level 3 Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- Complex behavioural support needs
- Self-injurious behaviours
- Physical aggression towards others
- Communication and emotional regulation challenges
Restrictive practices authorised within their Behaviour Support Plan, including:
- Chemical restrictive practices
- Physical restrictive practices
- Environmental restrictive practices
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 3 years' experience supporting participants with complex behaviours of concern.
- Demonstrated experience supporting children or adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
- Experience implementing Positive Behaviour Support Plans.
- Experience working within restrictive practice frameworks.
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check.
- Current Working with Children Check (Employee).
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate.
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate.
- NDIS Supporting Effective Communication Certificate (desirable).
- Current Australian Driver's Licence.
- Fully insured and reliable vehicle.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm, professional and confident in challenging situations.
Highly Desirable
- Restrictive Practice Training.
- High Intensity Support Skills experience.
- Mental Health First Aid qualification.
- Experience supporting participants with self-harm behaviours.
- Crisis prevention and de-escalation training.
- Relevant qualifications in Disability, Community Services, Youth Work, Psychology, Social Work, Nursing or related fields.
