The opportunity
The City of Mandurah is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Environmental Health Technical Officer to join our Health Services team on a full-time, 12-month contract. This role provides an excellent opportunity to contribute to public and environmental health outcomes in one of Western Australia’s fastest growing regional cities.
As part of a passionate and supportive team, you will assist in delivering services that help preserve the environment, protect the community and support a healthy future for Mandurah. The role will suit someone with a strong interest in public health, environmental health, food safety or environmental science, and an ability to apply scientific knowledge, undertake sampling and interpret data to support informed decision-making.
We are looking for someone who is proactive, flexible and customer focused, with strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders. You will bring a respectful and collaborative approach, a willingness to learn, and the ability to problem solve and contribute effectively to a team environment.

To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A passion for public and environmental health and a desire to contribute to the health and wellbeing of our community.
- Tertiary qualifications equivalent to, or significant progress toward completion in either Food Safety, Public Health, Health Science or Environmental Science.
- Knowledge of scientific principles particularly regarding sample collection, analysis techniques and interpretation of data.
- Knowledge of compliance inspection, education and enforcement processes (desirable)
- Exceptional customer service skills and an ability to negotiate positive outcomes that benefit our community.
- An ability to work effectively and add value to the team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
