The AOD Family Clinician will work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team to implement and deliver the intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) service to individuals experiencing complex and problematic alcohol and other drugs use. As this IOP program model is an integrated approach, the AOD Family Clinician will develop the ability to provide a range of treatment interventions including Assessment, Treatment Plans, Case Management, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Family Support, Conjoint Sessions, and psychoeducation via individual and group facilitation treatment modalities.
Work collaboratively with the broader multidisciplinary team to ensure the efficient, effective and responsive operation of the ResetLife service to ensure program fidelity.
Develop client-centred support, ensuring the specific and diverse needs of clients are met.
Acquire active engagement skills to support clients and family members/support people to build cohesive relationships.
Adapt communication styles to suit diverse audiences, fostering mutual understanding.
Completion of Comprehensive AOD Assessments and treatment planning for all clients assigned to their caseload.
Active engagement with clients and family members/support people to build cohesive relationships.
Management of Individual/conjoint family therapy sessions with all clients on caseload.
Facilitation of group sessions including Family Education, Early Recovery Skills, Relapse Prevention.
What we're looking for:
3 years’ experience in the delivery of clinical interventions (CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Motivational Enhancement Therapy, etc) with people and families experiencing complex alcohol and other drugs use.
Proven ability to effectively work with people and families experiencing problematic alcohol and other drugs use in a respectful, compassionate and positive manner.
A comprehensive understanding of the factors contributing to alcohol and other drug use.
Proven group facilitation skills and strong understanding of working with clients within a group context.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to consult, liaise and work collaboratively with colleagues.
Excellent administration skills including developing case plans, professional case noting, writing reports and effective time management skills
Capacity to work within a multidisciplinary team environment.
Demonstrated knowledge of the physiology of addiction.
Relevant health and/or welfare tertiary qualification such as Social Work, Psychology, Nursing or Allied Health Sciences.
Certificate IV in AOD or have completed the required competencies.
