Join St John Queensland and play a key role in reducing social isolation for older Australians through impactful community programs.
This dynamic, community-focused role sits within our Community Development team to provide program development, support and community engagement for the government funded Aged Care Volunteer Visitor Scheme (ACVVS) and coordinating a dedicated team of 40–70 volunteers.
Based in Nundah, you’ll blend strategic thinking with hands-on delivery—building strong partnerships, supporting volunteers, and ensuring programs meet funding, compliance, and community needs.
What You’ll Be Doing

Support a diverse team of volunteers in line with the Volunteer Recruitment Plan.
- Build and sustain relationships with placement providers and other community stakeholders.
- Travel interstate when required to visit facilities and volunteers.
- Attend network/stakeholder events as required.
- Maintain accurate client and volunteer records across relevant databases and systems.
- Promote and support internal training initiatives such as Dementia Awareness and Inclusion & Diversity.
- Ensure compliance with funding requirements, aged care standards, and risk management policies.
- Adhere to the National Standards for Volunteer Involvement through regular review and implementation.
- Participate in team meetings and collaborate with internal staff to support service delivery.
- Engage in community events and build partnerships with local service providers.
- Support feedback processes, continuous improvement actions, and complaints management.
- Complete timely reporting and contribute to planning and achieving KPIs and strategic goals.
- Expand home visit and social support programs and explore new opportunities for social connection.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by your manager as needed.
What You’ll Bring

Experience in community services, aged care, disability, or not-for-profit environments
- A degree or relevant qualification in community development, social work, or a related field is preferred
- Proven ability to coordinate programs and engage volunteers or stakeholders
- Strong interpersonal skills with a customer-focused approach
- Confident creating written content and using social media platforms
- Organised, proactive, and able to manage competing priorities
- Proficient IT skills (MS Office, CRM systems, reporting tools)
- Understanding of challenges faced by older people
- Current driver’s licence
- First Aid & CPR Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
- Criminal History Check (or willingness to obtain).
