Youth Assertive Outreach Worker
Darwin and Palmerston, Northern Territory
Walk beside young people as they reclaim safety, hope and possibility.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are strongly encouraged to apply.
Darwin and Palmerston are home to young people with extraordinary resilience and infinite potential. Many are navigating challenges such as homelessness, disconnection and complex issues long before they reach adulthood. This role exists to meet young people where they are and offer support, consistency and safety. It is for someone who shows up and walks beside them as they move toward independence.
As a Youth Assertive Outreach Worker, you will be a steady and trusted presence for young people aged 14 to 24. You will interact with them in community spaces, on the street and in temporary accommodation. You will help them feel seen, valued and supported as they take steps toward safer and more stable futures.
This role provides proactive and strengths-based support to young people who are marginalised, disconnected from services or experiencing or at risk of homelessness. You will deliver consistent assertive outreach, case management, advocacy and immediate practical assistance that improves access to housing, health, education, employment and community supports.
The position covers both Darwin and Palmerston, and you will work across these communities as part of your outreach and case management responsibilities.
This is a full-time permanent role within Youth Services and reports to the NT State Manager. Pay is in accordance with SCHADS Level 4.
