The Opportunity
We are seeking a proactive and skilled Handyperson to join our opening team. In this vital role, you’ll help ensure our brand-new hotel is kept in immaculate condition through a range of minor maintenance and repair tasks. You’ll play a key role in upholding the high standards of comfort, safety, and sustainability our guests expect.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs across guest rooms, public spaces, and back-of-house (including basic plumbing, carpentry, painting, and furniture fixes)
- Respond to maintenance requests swiftly, ensuring minimal disruption to guests
- Support preventative maintenance under the guidance of the Director of Engineering
- Inspect areas regularly to identify issues, report hazards, and escalate major repairs
- Assist with refurbishments, room turnovers, and event setup
- Keep tools and equipment safe, clean, and functional
- Follow all WHS and hotel safety/security procedures
- Communicate effectively with teams across departments
- Provide professional, discreet customer service at all times
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in a maintenance/handyperson role (ideally in hospitality or commercial buildings)
- Competency in basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and painting tasks
- Strong problem-solving, time management, and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently with a commitment to safety and guest privacy
- Good physical fitness and manual dexterity
Qualifications
- Trade qualification (preferred but not essential)
- White Card and/or Working at Heights certification (desirable)
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office and basic digital tools
