About the role
Reporting to the Accounts Receivable Team Leader, you will play a key role in supporting the effective operation of debt collection and credit management within our Finance department.
Managing a high-volume portfolio of outstanding accounts, you will ensure the timely recovery of payments, identify financial risks, and support the organisation’s cash flow and reporting obligations while maintaining a high standard of customer service.
This is a permanent, full-time position.
What you will do
- Debt Collection & Credit Control: Monitor and manage a high-volume portfolio of customer accounts, negotiate payment plans, and follow up on overdue balances via phone, email, and written correspondence.
- Accounts Receivable Operations: Coordinate with Sales and Customer Service teams, maintain accurate customer records in internal ERP systems, and process manual invoices, credit notes, and AR journal entries.
- Customer Engagement: Handle complex customer queries and payment disputes with empathy and professionalism, serving as a primary point of contact for routine and non-routine AR matters.
- Reporting & Month-End Support: Assist with month-end/year-end close processes, perform account reconciliations, prepare debtor aging reports, and monitor progress against recovery targets.
- Process Support: Maintain standard operating procedures, support system improvements, and adhere to policies for major accounts (including NDIS, TAC, DVA, and government agencies).
About you
You are a collaborative, detail-oriented, and customer-focused professional with a strong background in accounts receivable and credit control.
- Qualifications: Certificate IV level qualification in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in debt collection, credit control, and accounts receivable within a medium to large organisation, including experience managing high-volume debtor portfolios and handling complex customer interactions.
- Technical Skills: Intermediate MS Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, data analysis) and experience using financial/ERP systems (Greentree experience highly regarded).
- Communication & Negotiation: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to listen actively, show empathy to customers facing financial stress, and negotiate effective payment solutions.
