Rouse Hill Public School is located in the rapidly growing North West region of Sydney. The current student enrolment of 890, includes a Support Unit consisting of two Multi-Category and three Autism classes. The teaching staff consists of a mixture of experienced and early career teachers. The school caters for an increasingly culturally diverse student population. 50% of students have a language background other than English. 17 students identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.
One of four bilingual schools in NSW, all students are provided with the opportunity to learn Mandarin. Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with complex learning needs including Autism Spectrum Disorder and Intellectual Disabilities with diverse behavioural and emotional needs, K-6.
Strong organisational and administrative skills with demonstrated ability to effectively manage the dual role of Assistant Principal and exemplary special education teacher.
Evidence of a highly visible, approachable, and collaborative leadership style with the capacity to build and maintain positive, inclusive, and trusting relationships and partnerships with students, families, staff, external agencies, and the wider community, inclusive of managing the performance of individiual and teams across a complex setting.
Proven ability to lead and develop evidence-based and evaluative practices to implement high quality, differentiated curriculum, including the development of individualised learning programs that maximise student engagement, with a strong focus on wellbeing, and improved literacy and numeracy outcomes for all students.
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
