This role is classified as a Level 3 role under SBS Australia's current Enterprise Agreement (with a base salary range of $91,814 - $99,376). The successful applicant will be offered remuneration that is commensurate with their skills and experience and in alignment with this framework.
The Feed
The Feed covers the issues that matter to young people in Australia, ranging from politics to pop culture. We’re a digital-first team who creates Walkley Award-winning documentaries, vertical videos, high-production debates and inâdepth feature articles. The team sits within Digital Current Affairs, which also includes Dateline and Insight.
The Role
We have an exciting and rare opportunity for a senior reporter/producer to join the team in a full-time, ongoing capacity. Hybrid work arrangements are available, working 2 days from home and 3 days within our buzzing Artarmon newsroom. This is a multiplatform role that will focus on longâform content, as well as producing short-turnaround vertical video and feature articles.
We’re looking for someone who is agile and collaborative, brimming with ideas for both long-form and short-form content, and has a good understanding of digital platforms. They’re in tune with chronically online audiences, have an intrinsic understanding of the issues that concern young people in Australia, and are keen to dig deep and get to the heart of an issue. Video editing skills and the ability to film would be advantageous. The ideal candidate is comfortable creating content for different platforms from pitch to publish.

In this role you will:
Pitch, produce and present long-form content including mini documentaries and debates
Research, pre-interview talent, find hard-to-get talent and case studies, write shooting scripts and post-production scripts, and oversee edits for longâform content made for YouTube
Pitch and produce on-trend vertical videos and repurpose them into feature articles (and vice versa)
Write punchy, factually accurate and visually engaging scripts
Publish content including managing video uploads, creating thumbnails and social copy, and monitoring comments
Deliver content that engages Gen Z and Millennial audiences
Collaborate with the team on content ideas, production support and storytelling
Track story engagement, performance and traction via analytics
Stay abreast of online and social media trends
About you
Degree in media, or commensurate experience
A keen news enthusiast or storytelling obsessive
Able to jump from working independently with little supervision to collaborating with the team
Strong communication skills that allow you to condense and communicate complex ideas for young audiences
An understanding of social media platforms and storytelling styles across TikTok, Instagram and YouTube
Experience writing articles and scripts both longâform and shortâform, whether for TV, social media or documentary
Strong editorial judgement
Keen to share your thoughts on everything from story angles to banger headlines
Ability to shoot and/or edit is advantageous
