Steel Mains is Australia's leading manufacturer and supplier of complete steel pipeline systems for the transportation of water and wastewater, offering a total solution approach to its customers.
We are looking for a number of Welder/Metal Fabricator to join our team based at in Somerton, Victoria. This is a full-time role that will be working as part of our Fabrication team reporting to the Fabrication Supervisor.
The role will be responsible for, but not limited to:
- Heavy / Structural and pressure class fabrication of Steel Pipe Systems
- Working on Lobster Backs, Tees Reducers
- Fabrication / Welding of Steel Pipe Pieces
- Cutting marked-out metal sections and shapes
- Shaping and bending metal sections and pipes
- MIG and Flux core welding
- Welding and repairing pipe
- Welding steel pipeline systems for the transportation of water and wastewater
- Metal fabrication
- Grinding
- Aligning parts to be joined using hand tools and measuring instruments
The successful candidate will have:
- Trade qualified Welder/Metal Fabricator
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings/plans
- Proven experience flux core welding
- Well versed with GMAW and FCAW welding processes
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and remain motivated
- Energic and ‘can-do’ approach
- Full working rights
- Be willing to undergo pre-employment medical
- Be willing to undertake a weld qualification testing and layout/mark-up testing as applicable
Rate of pay:
The successful candidate will initially commence at an hourly base rate of $37.44 per hour.
Other standard entitlements include:
- Overtime
- Superannuation – at SGC rate
- Annual Leave – 4 weeks per year
