Systems Engineer (Humidification Technology Team)
About the Role
At ResMed, we create connected devices and digital health solutions that help millions of people sleep, breathe, and live better lives.
We’re looking for a Systems Engineer to join our Devices Systems team and contribute to a cross-functional Humidification Technology Team , helping shape the future of humidification technologies across our device platforms.
Working alongside mechanical, software, electronics, industrial design, and clinical experts, you’ll play a key role in developing world-class humidification systems that improve patient comfort, therapy effectiveness, and long-term adherence. From early technology exploration through to product development, you’ll help define requirements, evaluate concepts, manage technical risk, and bring innovative solutions to market.
While embedded within the Humidification Technology Team, you’ll remain part of the broader Devices Systems Engineering team and be supported by an experienced Systems Engineering community. This includes regular coaching and development from your Systems Engineering Manager, as well as technical guidance and mentorship from the Humidification Technology Team’s Technical Lead, helping you grow both your systems engineering capability and domain expertise in humidification technologies.
Let’s Talk About Responsibilities
In this role you will:
- Contribute to the development of ResMed’s humidification technology roadmap, helping identify and mature technologies that will shape future products
- Work with clinical, product, and engineering stakeholders to translate user, clinical, business, and regulatory needs into system requirements and technical solutions
- Define system architectures for humidification technologies, including sensing, control, monitoring, and safety strategies
- Support the development of advanced humidification and thermal management technologies, including closed-loop control approaches and performance optimisation
- Lead system-level risk management activities, hazard analysis, and the definition of safety controls throughout the development lifecycle
- Plan, develop, and execute laboratory investigations to evaluate humidification performance, understand system behaviour, and reduce technical uncertainty
- Collaborate closely with software, electronics, mechanical, verification, algorithm, and clinical teams to develop integrated system solutions
- Support technology maturation activities from early concept exploration through to product development and delivery
- Drive requirements management, traceability, verification planning, technical issue resolution, and regulatory readiness activities
- Communicate technical progress, key decisions, risks, and recommendations to project teams, technical leaders, and senior stakeholders
Let’s Talk About Qualifications and Experience
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical/Electronics, Chemical, or Biomedical, or a related Engineering discipline.
- 2–5 years of experience in systems, product development, or engineering roles, ideally within medical devices or other regulated industries
- Understanding of thermal systems, fluid flow, sensing technologies, control systems, or related engineering domains
- Familiarity with systems engineering practices, including requirements management, risk management, verification, and traceability
- Experience working collaboratively across multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and technical documentation skills
Preferred
- Experience with engineering development tools such as JIRA, Jama, Confluence, or similar platforms is desirable
- Exposure to medical device development processes and regulatory frameworks is advantageous
You’ll Thrive Here If You...
- Curious and motivated to learn new technologies and engineering domains
- Collaborative and comfortable working with experts from a range of disciplines
- Able to think at both the system level and the detailed technical level
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity and helping bring structure to complex technical challenges
- Passionate about developing technologies that improve patient outcomes and user experiences
Culture Fit
We’re a cross-disciplinary team where expertise comes in many forms. Some bring strong engineering instincts and systems thinking, while others contribute deep knowledge in hardware, software, or the business domain. The best work happens when these perspectives come together to solve problems at the system level, balancing technical, user, and business considerations.
We value humility, curiosity, collaborative problem-solving, and the ability to learn from anyone on the team — regardless of title or background.
