Head of Department - Speech
Build Something Meaningful
blue boots education is seeking an experienced Speech Pathologist to become the founding Head of Speech within our growing company.
This is a rare opportunity to join an established education business and build a department from the ground up, alongside our educators.
For 12 years, blue boots has partnered with families who believe their children are capable of more. Through high-quality literacy and numeracy programs, educational assessments and parental support, we've helped thousands of students build confidence, strengthen foundations and realise their potential.
Now, we're expanding.
We're looking for a Speech Therapist who thinks beyond today's caseload.
Someone who wants to help shape a service, contribute ideas, build relationships within the community, and create something that will have a lasting impact on children and families.
About Blue Boots
blue boots was built on a few simple beliefs:
- Every child has a unique learning path.
- Children are capable of more than they're often given credit for.
- High expectations matter.
- Parents and professionals achieve the best outcomes when they work together.
- Confidence is built through competence.
- Strong communication skills create opportunities for life.
These beliefs have guided us since 2014 and continue to shape everything we do today.
About The Role
As Head of Speech, you will:
- Conduct assessments and provide evidence-based intervention for children across a range of ages and needs.
- Develop individualised therapy plans and communicate progress clearly with families.
- Collaborate closely with our education team to support student outcomes.
- Help establish systems, processes and best-practice frameworks for the department.
- Build relationships with local schools, educators and community organisations.
- Represent Blue Boots within the community and contribute to the growth of the service.
- Play a key leadership role within the organisation.
Help Build The Future
We're not simply hiring a Speech Therapist.
We're looking for someone who wants to help build a department, develop future clinicians, and contribute to the long-term direction of blue boots in Sydney’s Inner West.
Working alongside our education team, you will help create:
- A graduate onboarding program for future Speech Pathologists.
- An internal professional development pathway for new and experienced clinicians.
- A network of trusted external training providers and mentors.
- Systems and frameworks that support consistent, high-quality outcomes for children and families.
- A department that continues to grow long after its foundations have been laid.
Again, we're looking for a motivated individual who thinks beyond today's caseload.
Community Engagement
As the founding Head of Speech, you will play an important role in establishing blue boots Speech Pathology within the local community.
This includes:
- Meeting with local schools and educators.
- Developing relationships with referral partners and allied health professionals.
- Representing Blue Boots at community events and information sessions.
- Contributing to parent education workshops and presentations.
- Helping families better understand when and how speech pathology can support their child.
This is not a high-pressure sales role.
Rather, we're looking for someone who enjoys building trusted relationships, educating families and creating meaningful connections within the community.
What We're Looking For
You will ideally:
- Hold recognised Speech Pathology qualifications.
- Have extensive experience working with children and families.
- Hold/Be eligible for membership with Speech Pathology Australia.
- Be an excellent communicator.
- Enjoy collaborating with educators and other professionals.
- Have strong organisational and leadership skills.
- Be excited by the opportunity to build and shape a new department.
What We Offer
- Above-award remuneration, negotiated based on experience.
- Leadership opportunities from day one.
- Genuine input into the future direction of the department.
- Administrative support.
- Flexible employment arrangements for the right candidate.
- A supportive, family-friendly workplace culture.
- The opportunity to build something meaningful within an established and highly respected organisation.
