UTILITY CIVIL PTY LTD is a Brisbane-based civil construction company specialising in drainage and civil engineering groundworks. We are seeking an experienced Drainers to join our growing civil construction team working across Brisbane and surrounding areas
The successful applicant will be responsible for excavating and preparing trenches, installing underground pipework and drainage systems, and constructing, maintaining, repairing, replacing, and testing subsoil drainage systems. All work must be completed in accordance with project specifications, relevant Australian Standards, and workplace health and safety requirements.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must have one of the following:
- AQF Certificate III qualification (or equivalent) including at least two years of on-the-job training; or
- AQF Certificate IV qualification (ANZSCO Skill Level 3) with at least one year of relevant post-qualification experience; or
- At least three years of relevant, full-time experience as a Civil Drainer.
Key Responsibilities
· Examine project drawings, specifications and site information to determine drainage layouts, pipe routes, levels and installation requirements.
· Measure, mark out and prepare work areas for the installation of underground drainage infrastructure.
· Excavate and prepare trenches for sewer, stormwater, water and subsoil drainage systems.
· Install, align, join and secure underground pipelines, fittings and associated drainage components in accordance with engineering specifications.
· Construct and install stormwater pits, inspection chambers, manholes, culverts, grated channels, headwalls and other drainage structures.
· Install underground detention and retention tanks, subsoil drainage systems and associated pipework for effective stormwater management.
· Prepare and place pipe bedding, surrounds and backfill materials to ensure the stability and integrity of installed infrastructure.
· Check pipe grades, invert levels and alignment using levelling instruments and laser equipment to ensure compliance with design requirements.
· Test completed drainage systems to verify alignment, flow, watertightness and operational performance, and rectify faults where required.
· Carry out maintenance, alteration, repair and replacement of damaged or defective underground drainage and pipeline systems.
· Operate and maintain hand tools, compaction equipment, pumps, laser levels and other equipment used in drainage construction.
· Assist with excavation, lifting and positioning of pipes, pits and precast drainage components using appropriate lifting and safety procedures.
· Ensuring backfilling, compacting and restoring work areas are in accordance with project specifications.
· Identify and report site hazards, damaged infrastructure and construction issues to supervisors, and recommend appropriate corrective action.
· Work collaboratively with supervisors, engineers, plant operators and other trades to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently and to required quality standards.
· Comply with workplace health and safety legislation, environmental requirements, Australian Standards and company policies while performing all drainage installation and maintenance activities..
Pay: $80,000.00 – $120,000.00 per year
