The Health and Safety Advisor provides technical work health and safety advice, services and support to line managers and staff across the Townsville Hospital and Health Service (HHS)
Under the direction of the Manager Workplace Health and Safety, the role supports implementation, and ongoing maintenance of the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Management System to ensure ongoing compliance with legislative obligations and duties.
The role delivers services that contribute to a highly capable and effective health and safety culture across the Townsville HHS and actively contributes to the achievement of key performance indicators and sustained reduction in incident frequency and severity of workplace injuries.
PLEASE NOTE - This is a permanent full-time role.
The ideal applicant will be someone who has proven ability and can demonstrate the following:
Extensive knowledge of the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 and other associated Acts, Regulations, Standards and policies, and experience in implementing and maintaining systems and procedures to achieve and maintain legislative compliance in large complex organisations.
High level work health and safety technical knowledge, skills and expertise in the management and coordination of workplace health and safety services and the ability to provide expert advice to a wide range of stakeholders in order to achieve positive performance outcomes.
Proven ability and experience in auditing, investigating, and identifying, assessing and managing work health and safety risks, leading to flexible, responsive, client-focused solutions.
Ability to communicate and consult effectively and confidently within a complex and diverse organisation and build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Proven ability to lead and develop the capability and knowledge of individuals and teams to ensure the provision of safe systems of work and safe work environments in a large, complex organisation.
Knowledge or exposure to safety in design principles and their application in healthcare or complex environments will be well regarded.

Salary range: $4167.80 - $4534.70 p.f. (AO5)
12.75% employer contribution to superannuation
4 weeks annual leave with 17.5% loading
Locality allowance
Plus Salary Sacrificing options may be available
Requirements:
Whilst not mandatory, possession of a tertiary or post graduate qualification in workplace health and safety, and/or risk management would be highly regarded
Possession of a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment would be desirable.
