Numbers are your language. China is your focus. Impact is your motivation.
Lorna Jane is one of Australia's most iconic activewear brands — built on the belief that living an active life changes everything. With a growing presence across global markets including China, we're looking for a sharp, detail-driven finance professional to join our team and own the numbers behind our China operations.
This isn't a role where you'll be buried in spreadsheets with no voice. You'll be a key player in month-end close, cross-border compliance, and financial insight — working directly with a collaborative finance team and stakeholders across the business.
We're open to both full-time and part-time arrangements for the right person. If you're a working parent or someone looking for flexibility without sacrificing meaningful work, we'd love to hear from you.
WHAT YOU'LL OWN
Month-End & Reporting
- Prepare and post month-end journals — accruals, prepayments, marketplace selling fee reconciliations, and influencer product giveaways
- Complete balance sheet reconciliations and resolve unreconciled items promptly
- Prepare bank reconciliations and bank uploads for China and AU entities
- Ensure China daily sales uploads are accurate and on time
Tax, Compliance & Fixed Assets
- Prepare and lodge BAS/VAT returns for AU, SG and NZ
- Liaise with China outsourced accountants to keep monthly compliance on track
- Support external audit requirements end-to-end
- Maintain the AU fixed asset register — WIP tracking, store fit-out capitalisation, and depreciation
- Process all China-related stock and general invoices accurately and within prescribed timeframes
Analysis & Continuous Improvement
- Provide financial analysis to the China team and support ad hoc projects
- Identify and implement process improvements that sharpen reporting efficiency
- Respond to internal and external queries with urgency and escalate issues as needed
ABOUT YOU
You're the kind of person who gets a quiet thrill from a perfectly reconciled balance sheet — and then asks "how can we make this faster next time?" You hold yourself to a high standard, you don't wait to be told what to do, and you know how to work across cultures and time zones with ease.
You bring:
- 2+ years of experience in an accounting or finance role
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related discipline
- Chinese language fluency — this role works directly with our China market team and partners, so the ability to communicate confidently in Mandarin (written and spoken) is essential
- Proven ability to monitor financials, spot variances, and draw insight from data
- Advanced Excel skills — pivot tables, XLOOKUP, and beyond
- A track record of meeting month-end and compliance deadlines without fail
Bonus points for:
- CA/CPA qualification (or working towards it)
- Experience using NetSuite in a retail environment
- Exposure to cross-border finance across AU, SG, NZ and/or Greater China
