The opportunity
We are seeking a high performing and commercially astute Senior Legal Counsel to join our legal team in a pivotal, trusted advisory role. Based at our Subiaco head office and reporting to the General Counsel & Company Secretary, you will partner closely with senior leadership to provide strategic, solutions focused legal advice across a broad portfolio of corporate, commercial, and regulatory matters.
This role offers a genuine opportunity to shape business outcomes, influence key decisions, and play a central role in supporting major projects and organisational strategy within a dynamic and evolving mining environment.
The main responsibilities of this role include:
Act as a strategic legal advisor to senior leaders, providing pragmatic, risk based guidance
Lead the drafting, negotiation, and execution of complex commercial agreements
Identify and manage legal and regulatory risk, ensuring strong governance and compliance frameworks
Support and advise on major projects, transactions, and strategic initiatives
Drive the development and continuous improvement of legal policies, processes, and governance frameworks
Manage relationships with external counsel to deliver high quality outcomes and value
Champion a culture of integrity, accountability, and ethical decision making across the organisation
Skills and Experiences:
About you
To be successful for this role, you will have:
Admission to legal practice in Western Australia with a current practising certificate (or eligibility to obtain one)
Significant post admission experience (typically 7+ years) in corporate/commercial law, ideally within a complex or regulated environment
Demonstrated experience advising on high value, complex legal and regulatory matters
Exceptional drafting, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills
A pragmatic, solutions oriented mindset, with the ability to balance risk and commercial outcomes
A proven track record of influencing and partnering with senior stakeholders
Strong professional judgement, integrity, and a collaborative approach
Experience within the mining and resources sector will be highly regarded
