Bay2Bay is seeking a Software Engineer to design, develop, modify, test, implement and support the software applications and systems used across its operations.
The successful candidate will work with the Managing Director, operational staff, external technology consultants and other stakeholders to analyse system requirements and develop practical, secure and scalable software solutions.
The position will play a key role in the ongoing development of Bay2Bay’s CRM and property management platform, including system integration, workflow automation, security, testing, documentation and user support.
Key responsibilities
- Research, consult with stakeholders, analyse and evaluate Bay2Bay’s software and system requirements.
- Identify limitations, inefficiencies and deficiencies in existing systems, workflows and operating processes.
- Translate operational and business requirements into software designs, technical specifications and development plans.
- Design, develop, modify, implement, install and support software applications and systems.
- Write and maintain program code in accordance with approved system requirements, technical specifications and quality standards.
- Develop and improve Bay2Bay’s CRM and property management platform.
- Design and implement new system features, operational workflows, automation tools and user interfaces.
- Develop and maintain integrations with booking, property-management, accounting, communication and other third-party platforms.
- Assist with the integration of artificial intelligence and automated decision-support tools into relevant business processes.
- Test, debug, diagnose and correct software errors, system faults and integration issues.
- Establish and follow appropriate testing protocols, quality-assurance procedures and software security controls.
- Manage software testing, deployment and implementation activities.
- Monitor system performance and operational metrics and recommend improvements to reliability, scalability, security and usability.
- Develop continuous-improvement and software-delivery strategies.
- Prepare and maintain technical specifications, source-code documentation, user instructions and operational procedures.
- Identify and mitigate risks affecting software performance, data security and system integrity.
- Provide technical advice, guidance and support to Bay2Bay’s management and operational staff.
- Collaborate with internal staff, contractors, consultants and external platform providers throughout the software-development lifecycle.
Qualifications, skills and experience
Essential requirements
- A bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in software engineering, computer science, cybersecurity, information technology or a closely related discipline.
- At least two years of relevant full-time professional experience in software engineering, software development, systems engineering or a closely related position.
- Demonstrated experience in designing, developing, testing, implementing and supporting software applications or systems.
- Experience analysing user and business requirements and translating them into technical specifications and practical software solutions.
- Experience identifying system limitations, resolving software defects and improving system performance, reliability and security.
- Experience with software testing, debugging, system implementation and technical documentation.
- Experience working with databases, application programming interfaces and third-party platform integrations.
- Knowledge of software-security principles, identity and access management, privacy controls and secure system-development practices.
- Experience working with cloud-based or hybrid systems.
- Strong written communication skills, including the ability to prepare technical documents, procedures and user instructions.
- Strong problem-solving, organisational and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with management, operational users, consultants and external technology providers.
Highly regarded
- Experience developing or supporting CRM, property-management, booking, workflow-management or enterprise business systems.
- Experience integrating software with accounting platforms such as Xero.
- Experience with workflow automation, artificial intelligence or machine-learning tools.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Entra ID or comparable cloud and identity platforms.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and standards such as ISO 27001, the ACSC Essential Eight or NIST.
- Experience conducting system risk assessments, implementing access controls and maintaining secure hybrid-cloud environments.
- Experience working in a small or growing business where the Software Engineer is responsible for the full software lifecycle, from requirements analysis and design through to implementation, support and continuous improvement.
- Experience providing technical guidance or training to non-technical users.
Pay: $100,000.00 – $120,000.00 per year
