About the role
Reporting to the Hospitality & Services Manager, the Housekeeping Champion carries out daily and scheduled cleaning of resident rooms, communal areas, bathrooms, corridors and shared facilities, maintaining Rockpool's high standards of hygiene, presentation and infection control across every shift.
This is a frontline role where your work directly shapes the comfort, dignity and safety of the people who call Rockpool home.

Key responsibilities include:

Clean and maintain resident rooms, communal areas, bathrooms and corridors to Rockpool's high standards

Follow daily cleaning schedules, procedure manuals and activity lists — and take initiative when you spot something that needs attention

Handle and dispose of rubbish, contaminated waste and sharps containers safely and correctly

Use and maintain cleaning equipment and chemicals in accordance with WH&S and infection control procedures

Engage warmly and respectfully with residents, families and staff during your daily rounds

Complete required documentation including iCare forms for incidents or unexpected events

Support team members and step in to help across other tasks when needed

Participate in quality improvement activities and mandatory training programs
Skills and experience

Reliable, self-motivated and able to work independently to a high standard

Ability to work in a culturally sensitive manner across a diverse community

Flexible and willing to work across different areas of the facility as needed

Demonstrates initiative and genuinely enjoys being part of a team

Clear and respectful communication with residents, families and colleagues

Attention to detail — you notice what others might miss

Commitment to infection control, hygiene standards and safe chemical handling

Aged care, cleaning or hospitality experience highly regarded, not essential

No formal qualifications required (essential)

Certificate II or III in Cleaning Operations, Hospitality or Individual Support (desirable)
-
Bilingual language skills (highly regarded)
