Key competencies (role specific criteria)
You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:
Ability to participate in an established roster covering a range of shifts within the hours of 0600-2030 7 days a week including weekdays, weekends and public holidays where rostered
Flexibility to work additional hours or extra shifts above the minimum contract hours where necessary to support patient care
Ability to successfully perform blood collection on neonates, paediatric, adult and geriatric patients in a busy public hospital environment and to perform cannulation
Prioritise inpatient and outpatient workloads to meet Turn Around Times, averaging 7 or more collections per hour on each shift
Use of an integrated electronic Medical Record system and a Laboratory Information System or the ability to quickly learn those systems
Clear, calm and respectful communication with supervisors, colleagues, patients and clients
An established history of positive teamwork, respectful behaviour and above-average attendance
Knowledge or ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of medical terminology and abbreviations, pathology terminology and abbreviations, test names and specimen types.
