The Shire Vet is growing and we’re looking for an experienced Veterinary Nurse, who has completed Cert IV in Vet Nurseing to grow with us.
We are a purpose-built hospital and are proudly independently owned by our four directors: Dr Mark Baldwin, Dr Michelle Sutherland, Dr Damien Cady and Vicki Cawsey. Our goal is simple, to build an outstanding veterinary team and provide the highest level of care to our local community. Our team consists of 5 full time vets and 10 nurses.

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced certificate IV veterinary nurse who is comfortable and confident to work in a fast-paced environment. The position consists of:
- Permanent part-time position with full time hours
- Rotating roster (morning and afternoon shifts)
- Clinic hours are: Monday–Friday 8am–7pm, Saturday 9am–4pm
- One in four Saturdays required (8:30am–4pm)
- No Sunday work
- No Public Holiday work
This is a hands-on role where you’ll be actively involved across all areas of nursing including reception and surgical duties.
What you must be comfortable with:
- Assisting with medical and surgical procedures
- Monitoring and recovering anaesthetised patients
- Administering medications
- Patient admissions and discharges
- Medical, surgical and dental nursing
- Caring for hospitalised patients
- IV catheter placement and blood collection
- Running in-house lab tests
- Providing exceptional client care and support
- Ability to work efficiently in a team and independently
