The Opportunity
Lions Eye Institute has an exciting new opportunity for a highly motivated Accountant to join us on a permanent full-time basis.
The Accountant will, under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer provide essential accounting and transaction processing at LEI and in support of major corporate projects as required.
Salary: $80,000.00 per annum plus Superannuation
Key responsibilities include:
· Preparing and maintaining reconciliations and reports for balance sheet accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial records.
· Perform monthly payroll reconciliations between payroll systems and the General Ledger investigating and resolving variances.
· Perform monthly reconciliations between the General Ledger and Project Costing systems to ensure financial accuracy and consistency.
· Manage financial accounting activities for the Clinical Trial Division, including journals, month-end and year-end processes, and reporting.
· Prepare ad hoc financial and management reports to support decision-making and planning.
· Support internal and external audits by preparing financial documents, reconciliations, and audit schedules.
· Maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with accounting standards and organisational policies.
· Ensure the accuracy and reliability of financial records through reconciliations, reviews, and compliance checks.
· Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis where required.
Essential Criteria:
· Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent competency
· Experience with Accounting Systems
· A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications with the capability and willingness to learn new packages as required
· Proficiency in a range of other computing skills including databases, internet and email
· Excellent organisational, time and workload management skills
· Attention to detail with demonstrated initiative and flexibility
· Demonstrated ability to prioritise work effectively to meet strict deadlines
· Strong Customer Service ethos
· Effective communication and interpersonal skills and the demonstrated ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with staff at all levels of the organisation
