About the Role:
Perinatal mental health sits at the intersection of two of the most consequential moments in a person's life — becoming a parent and navigating a mental health challenge. At Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN), you'll shape how that care is delivered across the northern metropolitan region, working within a team that takes both clinical excellence and human connection seriously.
Based at the Perinatal Northern Mental Health Service, this full-time, ongoing Nurse/Midwife Consultant position carries genuine scope to influence perinatal mental health practice across the network. You will:
Provide advanced clinical consultation and direct care for perinatal consumers and their families, including those with complex and co-occurring presentations
Lead and support education, workforce capability building, and practice development for multidisciplinary teams across NALHN
Collaborate with obstetric, midwifery, and community mental health services to deliver integrated, trauma-informed care pathways
Contribute to service improvement, policy development, and the translation of evidence into everyday clinical practice
What You'll Bring
Current registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Midwife with AHPRA
Substantial post-registration experience in mental health, perinatal care, or a closely related field
Demonstrated consultancy skills, including the ability to provide expert clinical guidance across professional boundaries
Sound understanding of the perinatal period and its intersection with mental illness, infant development, and family wellbeing
Experience working within SA Health's frameworks for mental health service delivery, or equivalent public health settings
Commitment to culturally safe, person-centred practice for diverse populations across northern Adelaide
To be eligible for this position, you must be registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate, enrolled in an approved Mental Health course or holds a qualification in mental health practice.
