Successful applicants will understand the importance of maintaining legal, ethical and moral responsibilities in all aspects of care and support.
About the Role
As a Support Worker with SYWOL, you will provide high-quality supports to participants with a range of complex needs including:
- Mental health conditions
- Intellectual disabilities
- Autism spectrum disorder
- Physical disabilities
- Neurodivergent disorders
Support Workers are expected to provide services across all support areas delivered by SYWOL while maintaining the highest professional standards at all times. Flexibility and reliability are essential, with staff encouraged to assist with additional supports where possible.
Key Responsibilities
- Personal care including dressing, toileting and showering
- Domestic assistance including meal preparation, shopping, housekeeping and cleaning
- Medication assistance and prompting (with relevant training provided)
- Behaviour support for participants experiencing mental health and behavioural challenges
- Supporting participants with mobility, independence and community access
- Assisting participants with incontinence care and changing aids
- Maintaining accurate documentation and professional communication
Essential Requirements
- English as first language
- Minimum 2 years’ experience supporting people with disabilities
- Experience supporting participants with complex mental health, intellectual, autism and physical disabilities
- Current Queensland Driver Licence
- Reliable and roadworthy vehicle with comprehensive insurance
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (Yellow Card)
- Current Blue Card (Paid Employee)
- Current First Aid & CPR Certificate or willingness to obtain within two weeks of commencement
- Current Police Check issued within the last 3 months
- Full Australian working rights
- Completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation Module or willingness to obtain prior to commencement
- Mobile phone with internet access
- Relevant nationally recognised qualifications in Disability, Community Services, Mental Health or Individual Support
- Lived experience within disability, mental health or community care sectors
- Annual flu vaccination strongly recommended

Pay: $35.15 – $44.59 per hour
