Synergie Australia is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to support a national portfolio of infrastructure and plant projects.
This is not an end-to-end Project Manager role, we are looking for a senior engineer with strong technical, site-based delivery experience.

- Pay: $110-140 per hour (inclusive)
- Employment Type: (3-6 months, potential extension)

What you will be required to do:
You will play a key role supporting project delivery from a technical and engineering perspective (client-side). This is a hands-on role focused on engineering and operational delivery, not an end-to-end Project Manager position.
- Provide hands-on engineering support across active projects
- Support delivery across design, construction, and commissioning phases
- Work closely with site teams to resolve technical issues in real time
- Review and contribute to engineering designs, scopes, and specifications
- Coordinate with contractors and consultants to ensure practical, buildable solutions
- Assist with resolving design changes, technical queries, and site challenges
- Support backlog of engineering documentation, standards, and specifications
- Ensure all solutions align with site operations and practical requirements
To be successful in the role you will:
- Have 10+ years' experience in engineering/project delivery roles
- Hold a degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Process or similar)
- Have strong experience in industrial, process plant, infrastructure, or heavy industry environments
- Demonstrate the ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision
- Have strong hands-on site experience, not just planning or reporting
- Be confident working directly with operations teams, contractors, and consultants
- Have proven experience supporting project delivery from a technical/engineering perspective
Highly regarded:
- Experience in waste, resource recovery, recycling, mining, manufacturing, or heavy industry
- Experience working client-side or within operational environments
- Exposure to multi-site or national projects
