Position Overview:
Location: Lane Cove, Sydney NSW
Available Positions: Two complementary tutoring roles (ideally filled by the same tutor for continuity)
Students: We are seeking tutoring support for two young primary school students:
- One student in Year 2
- One student in Kindergarten
Focus Areas:
- Mathematics and foundational numeracy
- English language skills and reading comprehension
- Reading and phonics support (particularly for word decoding)
- Handwriting and fine motor skills development
Session Details:
Position 1: Group Tutoring Sessions
- Frequency: Twice weekly
- Times: Wednesdays or Thursdays, 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM (1-hour sessions)
- Format: Flexible but ideally includes differentiated work for both students, with primary hands-on support directed toward the younger student
- Rate: $100 per session
- Total Weekly Hours: 1 hour
Position 2: Individual Tutoring Session (Younger Student)
- Frequency: Weekly
- Time: Saturdays, 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM (1-hour session)
- Format: One-on-one focused support
- Rate: $70 per hour
- Total Weekly Hours: 1 hour
Additional Notes:
- We strongly prefer the same tutor for both positions to ensure continuity and consistent approach to learning
- Tutoring takes place in-person at the family's home in Lane Cove
- The ideal candidate will provide independent homework tasks for both students to complete during the week
- Flexibility on times may be negotiable for the right candidate
- This is a long-term tutoring arrangement
What You'll Earn:
- $100 per group session (Wed/Thurs)
- $70 per individual session (Saturday)
- Total potential: $270 per week for 3 hours of tutoring
Skills and Qualifications:
- Education: Must have completed schooling in Australia, with a minimum ATAR of 85+ OR a relevant teaching qualification/experience.
- Work Rights: Must be an Australian citizen, New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or have a visa with work rights (excluding holiday visas).
- Compliance: Must hold a current Paid Working With Children Check (WWCC) or be willing to obtain one.
- ABN: Must have or be willing to apply for an Australian Business Number (ABN).
- Experience: Prior tutoring or teaching experience is preferred, particularly with primary school students.
- Personal Qualities: Enthusiastic, friendly personality with strong rapport-building skills. Patience and ability to work with students of different ages and learning needs essential.
