About the Role
This part-time position is generally rostered Wednesday to Friday (approximately six hours per day) and offers a rare hospitality opportunity with no weekend work. The rostered days may vary occasionally to meet operational requirements. While this position is primarily based in the café, the successful applicant will also provide relief support to the Members' Dining Room, including a la carte dining, functions and room service when required, this may include some evening shifts.
The Café on level three of 2 Parliament Place is located adjacent to Parliament House and provides services for approximately 200 internal Parliamentary staff and Members of Parliament.
Reporting to the Catering Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day coordination and service of food and beverage requirements, barista service, presentation and cleaning of the café with a consistent high level of service.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Undertaking barista and café attendant duties.
Accurate processing of sales through ‘Swiftpos’ point of sale and eftpos.
Selling of pre-packaged food and beverage items.
Prepare basic food items such as toasted sandwiches etc.
Collecting stock orders from main Catering Services stores and restocking fridges ready for daily opening.
Maintaining a clean café environment as per standard operating procedures and Food Safe Plus standard.
Undertaking end-of-day reconciliation and café close-down procedures
Providing relief support within the Members' Dining Room, including professional a la carte dining, function and room service, when required.

SELECTION CRITERIA:
About You
To be successful in this role, you will be an experienced hospitality professional with strong barista skills, experience delivering high-quality customer service and the flexibility to work across both café and premium dining environments.
Applicants will need to meet the following criteria:
Essential:
Minimum 3 years’ experience working in a barista role.
Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar café environment.
At least 2 years relevant hospitality expertise in a high-profile environment, preferably with silver and a-la-carte service.
Experience with touch screen point of sale systems, Swiftpos experience an advantage but not essential.
Very good organisational skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Excellent customer service skills.
Demonstrated reliability, dependability and confidentiality.
Knowledge of work health and safety practices including safe chemical use and food safety standards (HACCP).
