Manager, Construction Category Management
Location: Parramatta (hybrid working), a mixture of working from office and home
Employment type: Ongoing Full Time
Salary: Clerk Grade 9/10 ($133,348 - $146,945 pa), plus employer’s contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading
Your role
As the Manager, Construction Category Management, you will lead construction procurement category management, partnering with stakeholders to plan, source and manage procurement activities, while providing expert advice, ensuring governance and compliance, and supporting capability uplift to deliver value-for-money outcomes.
What you’ll do
The Manager, Construction Category Management role is responsible for managing day‑to‑day construction procurement activities, including planning and sourcing procurement requirements, developing category strategies, and supporting project teams with procurement advice. The role provides governance and assurance over construction procurement processes, resolves issues as they arise, engages regularly with stakeholders, and monitors progress to ensure compliance, value for money, and alignment with DCJ objectives.
The Construction Category Management team sits within Infrastructure & Assets and is a small, close‑knit group focused on procurement assurance and supporting construction delivery across DCJ. The team operates in a collaborative environment, working closely with project teams and stakeholders to provide guidance and oversight, with a strong emphasis on teamwork, accountability, and delivering quality outcomes. The culture is built around motivated individuals who take pride in their work, demonstrate a strong work ethic, and support each other to achieve shared goals in a fast‑paced and professional environment.
What we’re looking for
The ideal candidate will have experience in procurement, category management, or construction-related projects, with a solid understanding of procurement processes and governance.
They will be comfortable working with a range of stakeholders, able to provide practical advice, and confident managing competing priorities.
Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and clear communication are important, along with the ability to identify issues and work collaboratively to resolve them.
Relevant qualifications in procurement, construction, or a related field are desirable but not essential where there is demonstrated experience
