About the Department / Program
Alfred Health and Monash Health have established a formal partnership to deliver a Shared Pathology Service as one of three new pathology networks for metropolitan Melbourne. All roles in the Pathology Programs are working to develop the Partnership and ensure we continue to provide high quality care for the patients across the health services.
Monash Health Pathology is an integral part of Monash Health. It is the largest public provider of Pathology services in the state and currently operates 6 laboratories. The largest of these is located at the Monash Medical Centre, Clayton, with additional laboratories located at the Dandenong, Moorabbin, Casey, Victorian Heart Hospital and Wonthaggi Hospitals. There are currently 18 collection locations based within the hospital sites and community settings. Services are provided to the Public and Private sectors, and other laboratory services.
About the Role
Supportive on the job development to grow your career working in a team of 14, part time, in our Core Laboratory located at The Victorian Heart Hospital, Clayton.
We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced, and dedicated Laboratory Technician to fill a permanent 0.1 EFT vacancy within the Core Laboratory at the Victorian Heart Hospital (VHH), Clayton
The successful applicant will possess demonstrated experience in the operation and maintenance of analysers in Haematology, Chemical Pathology, and Transfusion.
You will join the existing team of Medical Scientists and Laboratory Technicians at VHH and report directly to the Pathology Site Manager
Maintenance of equipment, resources and stock
Maintenance and promotion of safe working practices
Perform diagnostic tests as directed, in accordance with set methods, and take responsibility for the quality of their supervised work.
Responsible for own professional development. Updates knowledge by attending relevant meetings, reviewing scientific and technical literature and case studies.
Communicate suggestions to your immediate supervisor to continuously improve the service.
Act appropriately on (defined) critical results as directed.
Perform specimen reception procedures as required.
By mutual agreement, staff members may from time to time be called upon to perform duties for which they are appropriately qualified at any Hospital or location within Monash Health
About You
To be successful in this healthcare role, you will bring the following demonstrated skills, experience, and attributes:
Operation and maintenance of analysers in Haematology, Chemical Pathology, and Transfusion.
Mandatory requirements of the role:
Diploma in Science or Applied Science (MLS) or recognized equivalent/experience
