About the Role
Help Shape the Future of Perth's Ferries
This is more than a Marine Manager role—it's an opportunity to lead one of Australia's most unique public transport operations and help deliver the next generation of ferry services, including Perth's exciting transition to electric ferries.
As Marine Manager, you'll lead the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the Transperth ferry service, ensuring our vessels, people and systems consistently deliver an exceptional experience for the travelling public. Working alongside a highly experienced marine team, you'll oversee marine operations, vessel maintenance, safety, compliance and crew leadership while building strong relationships with the Public Transport Authority and other key stakeholders.
With Perth preparing to introduce a new generation of electric ferries, you'll also play a pivotal role in one of Western Australia's most exciting marine transport projects. From operational planning and fleet readiness through to implementation and ongoing optimisation, you'll help deliver the successful transition to a modern, sustainable fleet that will serve Perth for decades to come.

Key responsibilities include:

Leading marine operations, crew management and roster planning

Ensuring safe, reliable and on-time ferry services

Managing vessel maintenance programs, surveys and AMSA compliance

Driving proactive maintenance strategies that improve reliability and reduce downtime

Managing operational budgets and financial performance

Building strong relationships with the Public Transport Authority, contractors and regulatory agencies

Leading safety initiatives, risk management and continuous improvement

Delivering our contractual obligations while maintaining exceptional customer service standards

Supporting the successful introduction and ongoing operation of Perth's new electric ferry fleet

About You
You're a practical leader who enjoys being close to the operation. You know how to build capable teams, solve problems, make sound decisions under pressure and balance operational demands with long-term planning.
You understand that great marine operations are built on strong leadership, proactive maintenance, sound financial management and an uncompromising commitment to safety.
You'll bring:

Proven leadership experience managing marine operations or a commercial vessel fleet

Strong organisational and planning skills in a fast-paced operational environment

Experience managing maintenance programs and vessel reliability

Financial and budget management skills

Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities

High levels of initiative, accountability and professionalism
Essential qualifications and experience

Master V and MED 2 qualifications (minimum)

Mechanical knowledge and practical maintenance experience

Senior First Aid qualification (desirable)

Sound understanding of AMSA legislation and marine regulatory compliance

Experience using maintenance management systems and Microsoft Office applications
