We are seeking an experienced and values-driven professional to join the Board of our not-for-profit private hospital as a Non-Executive Director.
Burnside Hospital has built a strong reputation over nearly 70 years for delivering safe, high-quality and compassionate care to our community. As a member of the Board, you will play a vital role in ensuring the organisation remains financially sustainable, strategically focused and governed to the highest standards.
About the Role
The Board is responsible for providing strategic leadership, overseeing organisational performance and ensuring effective governance in support of the hospital’s purpose – exceptional care, always – and our vision and approach.
We are seeking a Director with strong financial expertise to support the Board in overseeing financial performance, managing risk, and ensuring the organisation’s long-term sustainability. This role will also serve as Chair of the Finance and Audit Committee, leading the Board’s financial oversight and governance through this key sub-committee.
This is a remunerated position with fees in line with the not-for-profit sector and provides access to FBT arrangements.
About You
- Extensive senior financial leadership experience, ideally within the private hospital, health or broader healthcare sector.
- Demonstrated expertise in financial strategy, budgeting, financial reporting, audit and risk management.
- Strong governance experience, including previous service on a board or board committee, i.e. Finance, Audit and Risk Committee, with a sound understanding of contemporary governance principles.
- Strategic thinking and the ability to contribute constructively to Board deliberations.
- Excellent communication, collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills.
- A commitment to ethical leadership and the mission and values of a not-for-profit healthcare organisation.
Desirable
- Current or previous Non-Executive Director experience.
- Experience serving on a Finance, Audit and Risk Committee.
- Membership of a recognised professional accounting body (CA ANZ or CPA Australia).
- An understanding of the Australian healthcare sector, including governance, funding, regulation and compliance.
