Support Worker – Job Description Position Overview
We are seeking a caring, reliable, and compassionate Support Worker to provide high-quality care and assistance to people with disabilities, older adults, and individuals who require support to live safely, comfortably, and independently.
The successful candidate will provide person-centred support while promoting each client's dignity, choice, independence, and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide personal care and assistance with daily living activities, including showering, dressing, grooming, and hygiene.
- Provide medication prompts and support in accordance with individual care plans and workplace procedures.
- Assist with meal preparation, cooking, cleaning, laundry, shopping, and other household tasks.
- Support clients to attend medical appointments, social activities, recreational activities, and community events.
- Encourage clients to develop and maintain independence and work toward their personal, social, and vocational goals.
- Provide companionship and emotional support while maintaining professional boundaries.
- Monitor and report changes in a client's health, behaviour, wellbeing, or circumstances.
- Complete accurate and timely shift notes, progress notes, incident reports, and other required documentation.
- Follow individual support plans, workplace policies, health and safety requirements, and relevant legislation.
- Maintain client privacy, confidentiality, dignity, and rights at all times.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
- Previous experience in disability, aged care, community care, or a similar support role is desirable.
- Compassionate, patient, respectful, and empathetic approach.
- Strong communication and active listening skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to build positive and professional relationships with clients and their families.
- Current Australian right to work documents
- Current Australian Drivers License
- Current First Aid Certificate and CPR training.
- Relevant qualification such as Certificate III in Individual Support is desirable.
- Ability to obtain or maintain any other checks, licences, or training required for the position.
- Preferably be able to Arabic/Chaldean Neo-Aramaic and Assyrian Neo-Aramaic

Pay: $26.44 – $40.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30.0 – 38.0 per week
