Catering Project Sydney is seeking an experienced and passionate Sous Chef to join our growing team for an immediate start.
This is a full-time opportunity for a hands-on hospitality professional with strong event and large-scale catering experience. The role is heavily focused on delivering high-quality food for premium corporate catering and events, working within a fast-paced production kitchen environment.
You will play a key role in leading kitchen operations for events, ensuring exceptional food quality, seamless execution, and consistent service standards across all catering deliveries and functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee food production and event preparation across all stages of service
- Ensure all catering and event orders are prepared, packed, and dispatched on time
- Maintain consistency, presentation, and quality across all menu items
- Lead kitchen operations during busy event periods and high-volume service
- Manage freshness, food quality, and compliance with company SOPs
- Train, mentor, and support kitchen team members
- Drive HACCP compliance, food safety, and workplace health & safety standards
- Monitor labour costs, food costs, and production efficiencies
- Assist with rostering and workforce planning to meet operational demands
- Support menu development, stock control, ordering, and inventory management
- Work collaboratively with Operations to address customer feedback and continuously improve service delivery
- Maintain strong administrative and reporting standards
Essential Criteria
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar Sous Chef or senior kitchen leadership role
- Strong background in large-scale catering and event operations
- Experience working within high-volume corporate catering or delivered catering models
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage teams under pressure
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- Process-driven with experience implementing systems and SOPs
- Sound understanding of food costing, labour management, and kitchen efficiencies
- Experience in HACCP-accredited kitchens
- Passion for delivering exceptional food and event experiences
- Flexible availability, including weekends and event schedules as required
