About the Role
The Centre for Education is seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and experienced Registered Nurse to join our dynamic Nursing Education team as a Clinical Nurse Educator.
In this role, you will provide clinical education, facilitation, supervision, coaching to nursing staff, transition-to-practice nurses, postgraduate nurses and undergraduate nursing students across Western Health.
You will play an important role in developing a skilled and confident nursing workforce by delivering evidence-based education, supporting professional development and promoting excellence in clinical practice and patient care.
Key Responsibilities
As a Clinical Nurse Educator, you will:
- Facilitate evidence-based education programs, study days, orientation and clinical learning opportunities for nursing staff.
- Provide clinical supervision, coaching, mentoring and support to nursing staff and learners.
Promote clinical reasoning, critical thinking and evidence-based practice to support safe, high-quality patient care.
- Support graduate nurses, undergraduate nursing students and nurses participating in transition-to-practice programs.
- Collaborate with Nurse Unit Managers, educators and multidisciplinary teams to identify learning needs and strengthen clinical capability.
- Contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of education programs, clinical resources and relevant policies and procedures.
- Monitor learner progress and provide timely, constructive feedback to support professional development.
Participate in recruitment, interviews and the promotion of nursing education programs as required.
- Foster a positive and supportive learning environment that encourages professional growth, teamwork and excellence in clinical practice.
About You
You are an experienced Registered Nurse with a passion for clinical education, mentoring and supporting the professional development of others. You are an effective communicator who can work collaboratively while also demonstrating initiative and autonomy.
You will have:
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
- A minimum of five years' post-registration experience in an acute healthcare setting.
- Recent experience in nursing education, clinical facilitation and/or the delivery of education and training.
- Strong clinical knowledge and an understanding of contemporary evidence-based nursing practice.
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong coaching, mentoring and conflict-resolution skills.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and clinical information systems.
- A demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement, professional development and innovation in nursing education.
Desirable
Postgraduate qualification, or currently working towards a Master's qualification, with an education focus.
Previous experience in a clinical leadership or nursing education role.
