NMR operates the Blackjack Processing Plant, based in the Charters Towers region of Northern Queensland as part of a new and exciting transformational acquisition. This acquisition provides the immediate core with extensive exploration potential; several additional projects currently being prioritised and also offers significant upside through resource growth opportunities.
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Mine Surveyor to support site operations and provide critical spatial data that will drive safe and efficient mining activity. This is an exciting opportunity to join our team at the beginning of an innovative new gold production journey.
About the Role
Based on-site at our Charters Towers operation, the Surveyor is responsible for delivering accurate survey data to support both open pit mine planning, development, and production. This role plays a vital role in ensuring that mining activities align with design plans and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct end-of-month pickups, stockpile surveys, and volume calculations.
- Provide survey control and mark-outs for drilling, blasting, mining, and construction activities.
- Maintain and update mine survey databases, maps, and as-built records.
- Assist with pit wall monitoring, compliance checks, and spatial audits.
- Operate survey instruments including GPS, total stations, and laser scanners.
- Ensure compliance with relevant safety, environmental, and legislative standards.
- Collaborate with mining, geology, and technical services teams to deliver accurate spatial data and support operational decisions.
About You
You are a self-motivated and safety-conscious surveyor who thrives in a site-based environment. Your technical expertise, attention to detail, and collaborative approach allow you to contribute effectively to the success of the mining operation.
To be successful, you will have:
Skills & Experience
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a mining or heavy industry survey role
- Proficiency in mining software e.g Deswik
- Strong knowledge of GPS, total station, and laser scanning equipment.
- Familiarity with mine planning, compliance, and production survey requirements.
- Ability to interpret mine plans and contribute to operational decision-making.
Qualifications
- Degree or Diploma in Surveying or Spatial Science (or equivalent).
- Registered as a Mine Surveyor (desirable).
- Current manual driver’s licence and ability to pass a pre-employment medical.
- Confined space, working at heights, and other mining tickets are an advantage.
- Australian citizen or permanent resident status required.
