Anglicare Southern Queensland are currently seeking to hire a Communications Specialist to join our Marketing and Client Acquisition team based in Fortitude Valley.
In this role, you will work at both a strategic and operational level to contribute to the awareness of Anglicare’s brand. This includes developing and implementing proactive communications and public relations that positively position Anglicare, utilising both external and internal channels.
How you will make help us make a difference
- Identify and respond to proactive communications and public relations opportunities, in line with strategic priorities.
- Manage and coordinate responses to media enquiries and requests for interviews.
- Develop and implement a range of communications activities including but not limited to press releases, web stories and posts, speeches and reports.
- Seek media opportunities and maintain relationships with key journalists, government representatives, peak bodies and community stakeholders.
- Identify stories within Anglicare to share and profile on external channels
- Monitor media, industry, government and community issues, and provide timely updates and communications advice on emerging opportunities and potential reputation risks.
- Build and maintain relationships with Anglicare services with regular visits and contact to collect stories for internal and external communications channels
- Provide communications support to Executive and Senior Leadership teams, including preparing key messages, speeches, briefing materials and co-ordinating media training activities.
What our team are looking for
- Degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing or similar field
- A strong communications or media background with experience in public relations, communications or journalism
- Excellent writing and communication skills including public speaking and presentation skills
- Proven copywriter who can adapt tone of voice dependent on audience
- Ability to plan and implement strategic communications and media plans
- A proven track record in pitching stories direct to journalists and influencers with success
- Current National Police Check or NDIS Workers Screening Clearance (or ability to attain)
- Current Queenslanders Drivers Licence
