Are you an experienced data professional looking to bring AI and machine learning into real-world health analytics? Join the Gippsland Health Alliance team at Latrobe Regional Health, where we value our employees by providing a safe and supportive workplace culture that enables you to thrive.
Latrobe Regional Health is looking for an AI Data Analyst to join our growing team on a full time (1.0 EFT) ongoing basis.
We are seeking a proactive and analytically minded AI Data Analyst to investigate business, clinical, and operational issues across the Gippsland Health Alliance (GHA), and to design, develop, and apply AI and machine learning solutions that support GHA's business intelligence, data warehousing, and reporting outcomes. This role combines core data analyst capability — ETL development, data modelling, and report writing — with AI-enabled analytics, including predictive modelling, natural language processing, and intelligent automation, all delivered in line with legislative compliance and health information privacy requirements.
The role of the AI Data Analyst is to:
- Investigate business, clinical, and operational issues and design, develop, and apply suitable AI-based solutions to address them.
- Provide support for data pipelines, reporting platforms, and AI/ML tools, and assist with maintenance of BI systems and data warehouses.
- Investigate and resolve service desk issues relating to reports, data feeds, and AI-enabled tools, acting as a designated Problem Manager where required.
- Ensure all data, reporting, and AI-enabled solutions comply with relevant legislative and privacy requirements, including the Health Records Act 2001 (Vic) and Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
- Maintain contemporary documentation of data models, pipelines, and AI/ML solutions, and provide high-level training to end users.
- Build strong working relationships with key health agency stakeholders, and contribute to service management processes such as incident, problem, change and release management.
About you
Ideal candidates for this role will have:
- Completed education to Year 12 or above and a current driver's licence.
- A tertiary qualification in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, Analytics, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A sound understanding of privacy principles as they apply in the health sector.
- Proven experience delivering business intelligence and reporting solutions in medium to large enterprise environments, including strong knowledge of SQL, data warehousing concepts, and ETL design (SSIS, PL/SQL).
- Experience applying artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques to real-world data and reporting problems, with extensive experience in Python and/or R.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with proven ability to define requirements and deliver successful project outcomes.
- Desirable: postgraduate qualification or micro-credentials in AI, Machine Learning, or Data Science; prior experience in a health environment; and experience with cloud-based AI/ML platforms such as Microsoft Azure AI, Azure Machine Learning, or Databricks.
