Why we are Recruiting
St David’s Neighbourhood Centre is a busy centre that is a place of connection for community members who participate in our many programs, activities and events each day. A person to provide a professional first impression is essential to ensuring each visitor is warmly welcomed. The role also provides support with administration tasks across all programs which ensure the smooth operation of the centre. A warm, genuine and understanding person is essential to providing a positive first impression. The position has recently become vacant, and we are looking for the right person to join our team.
What You Will Do
In this role you will be the first point of contact for many of our community and visitors and facilitate the daily operations of the centre. You will provide support by answering phones, greeting visitors and using effective communication skills to answer questions and direct people to the right area. You will use your organisation skills to provide administration support to the programs and activities of the centre.
Through the role, you will also assist in the planning, organising of the activities and social programs offered through the centre. These programs aim to connect our community and require assistance with set up and pack down of the rooms, attendance records and other tasks that support our peer lead programs.
What we are looking for

Our key selection criteria include:
· Relevant qualification in administration along with relevant experience working in a community setting
· Experience in providing reception duties, answering questions and using effective communication skills to support visitors and volunteers.
· Experience in administration tasks including management of mail, communication of messages, data entry, preparation of documents, forms and other resources as well money handling including banking.
· Knowledge and experience with social media to assist in the promotion of the centre to our community.
· Knowledge and experience with Canva to assist with the preparation and printing of the centre’s monthly newsletter and marketing resources.
· Effective communication (oral and written) skills including confidence in holding difficult conversations
· Ability to work as an integral part of a team including volunteers and those from diverse backgrounds.
· Proven computer literacy in Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
· Current valid driver’s licence and willing to drive own vehicle to complete banking and other tasks
· Hold a current National Police Check and a Blue Card (or willingness to obtain)
· Willingness to work within the Ethos of the Uniting Church
