The business services a broad range of customers across hospitality, food production, supermarkets, manufacturing, warehousing, mining-related businesses and other commercial sectors.
Due to business growth and the need to strengthen domestic and international supplier sourcing, category-level procurement planning and cost-control processes, we are seeking an experienced Procurement Specialist to join our team. The position will support supplier assessment, procurement analysis, product sourcing, supplier relationship management and procurement process improvement to help maintain a reliable and cost-effective supply chain.
About the Role
Reporting to the Director, the Procurement Specialist will support PLA ENTERPRISES' procurement activities across key product categories, including packaging products, food packaging, hospitality consumables, cleaning supplies and industrial supply items. The role requires practical procurement experience, commercial awareness and the ability to analyse supplier, cost, product and inventory-related information to support sound purchasing decisions.
The successful candidate will assist with procurement planning, supplier evaluation, pricing and cost analysis, supplier term coordination and supplier performance monitoring. The role is suited to a procurement professional who can combine data-driven analysis with supplier communication, product category awareness and practical commercial negotiation.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare, review and support the implementation of procurement plans for assigned product categories, ensuring procurement activities align with customer demand, inventory requirements, product availability and cost-control objectives.
Identify, assess and compare suitable domestic and international suppliers for packaging products, food packaging, hospitality consumables, cleaning supplies and industrial supply items, including reviewing pricing, product quality, minimum order quantities, lead times, payment terms and supplier reliability.
Coordinate supplier sourcing activities, including preparing supplier enquiries, managing RFQ and quotation comparison processes, and assisting with commercial and product-related negotiations where required.
Analyse product pricing, landed costs, freight costs, supplier terms, purchasing trends, stock movement and category performance to support procurement cost optimisation and management decision-making.
Monitor supplier performance, delivery timelines, product quality, stock availability and responsiveness, and recommend corrective actions, alternative suppliers or substitute products where supply issues arise.
Work closely with management, sales, warehouse and operations teams to review customer demand, seasonal trends, inventory levels and fast-moving or slow-moving product lines, and provide procurement planning recommendations.
Maintain and organise supplier records, product specifications, procurement data, purchase histories, pricing information and supplier communication records to support accurate reporting and effective procurement decisions.
Research market trends, packaging materials, sustainable product options and customer industry requirements to support the sourcing of suitable products for hospitality, food production, manufacturing, warehousing, mining-related and other commercial customers.
Review existing procurement procedures, supplier communication processes and product information management practices, and recommend practical improvements to strengthen procurement efficiency, supply continuity and cost control.
Skills and Experience Required
Bachelor's degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, Commerce, Finance or a related field.
At least 3 years of relevant experience in procurement, sourcing, supplier management, purchasing analysis or supply chain coordination roles.
Practical experience in supplier sourcing, quotation comparison, procurement analysis, supplier negotiation, cost review and procurement documentation.
Sound understanding of procurement processes, supplier performance management, inventory-related procurement planning, cost control and supply chain risk considerations.
Good analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to review pricing, purchasing data, supplier information, product specifications and cost information accurately.
Strong communication and stakeholder coordination skills, with the ability to work effectively with suppliers, management, sales, warehouse and operations teams.
Highly organised, adaptable and able to manage multiple procurement priorities in a fast-paced wholesale, distribution or commercial supply environment.
Experience in packaging, industrial supplies, hospitality consumables, cleaning supplies, food packaging or related product categories will be highly regarded.
Pay: $90,000.00 – $130,000.00 per year
