Primary objective
You will implement the Department of Education and Training’s (DET) talent attraction and marketing strategy to promote the
department as an employer of choice, focused on attracting educators to Northern Territory (NT) Government schools.
Context statement
DET delivers, supports and regulates early childhood, school education and training services. There are 153 government schools
across six regions in the NT - Central, Big Rivers, Barkly, Top End, Darwin and East Arnhem – with 71 per cent of schools located
in remote and very remote areas. The Talent, Attraction and Recruitment (TAR) work unit sits within Schools Leadership, Culture
and Care team. TAR supports the department’s strategic direction by ensuring the organisation can meet its current and future
workforce needs through effective educator attraction and recruitment approaches. Reporting to the Assistant Director –
Attraction, the Senior Marketing Consultant provides specialist marketing expertise to strengthen the Teach in the Territory
employer brand.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Implements the department’s talent attraction and marketing strategy and delivers and evaluates teacher attraction projects,
lead generation activities and awareness campaigns.
2. Oversees the development of high-quality marketing content across digital, social and traditional channels to ensure consistent
and compelling Teach in the Territory brand that drives engagement and job applications.
3. Plans and coordinates attraction events, including online employer information sessions and participation in university-led
career expos to generate awareness and convert interest into preservice placements and graduate and experienced teacher job
applications.
4. Implements targeted marketing campaigns and monitors and analyses campaign performance using marketing data and
analytics, providing regular reports and insights to optimise future campaigns.
5. Provides guidance and support to team members in relation to attraction strategies and tactics, to strengthen team capability.
6. Prepares high level briefs with strategic and practical advice for senior officers of the department and the Minister and
stakeholders.
7. Builds and sustains partnerships with internal and external, local and national level stakeholders.
8. Research, analyses and reports on current and emerging national and local educator attraction and initial teacher education
issues and trends to inform strategic direction and the development of evidence-based initiatives.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Highly developed knowledge and experience in contemporary strategic communications and marketing with proven ability to
develop campaigns to build brand awareness, leading to stronger engagement, user experience and conversions.
2. Project management experience.
3. Experience or knowledge of talent attraction marketing and/or recruitment marketing practices.
4. Practical, contemporary knowledge of the broader strategic communication and marketing industry, including publications,
media management, exhibitions, creative graphic design concepts, electronic, social and digital platforms and networks,
promotions, advertising management, market research and events or product launches.
5. Demonstrated high level interpersonal and communication skills with ability to establish and sustain productive professional
relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
6. Demonstrated experience managing multiple, and sometimes conflicting, workloads, while maintaining attention to detail.
Desirable
1. Relevant tertiary qualification.
