About the role
Blackbook AI is a data and AI consultancy partnered with Databricks, Microsoft, AWS and UiPath. We're looking for a Senior Consultant to lead automation delivery for a major enterprise client in the utilities sector.
You'll lead a small team of automation developers while working directly with business stakeholders to shape and deliver the next wave of automation. This suits someone who's outgrown pure development and wants the delivery leadership and client-facing side - you'll be running discovery workshops as often as you're reviewing solution designs.
What you'll do
Delivery leadership
- Lead and mentor a team of RPA and automation developers
- Apply and improve delivery standards, development frameworks and QA processes
- Prioritise and allocate work; run technical and delivery reviews against quality, security and supportability standards
- Coordinate delivery across automation, AI, data and integration workstreams
- Clear blockers, manage risks and dependencies
Discovery and stakeholder engagement
- Work with business stakeholders to understand operational pain and identify automation opportunities
- Facilitate workshops, discovery sessions and process reviews
- Translate business need into defined automation and process improvement initiatives
- Contribute to business cases, opportunity assessments and delivery roadmaps
- Build trusted working relationships with operational leaders
Governance and continuous improvement
- Work within the client's automation governance framework and flag gaps or improvement opportunities
- Support pipeline management, prioritisation and benefits tracking
- Ensure compliance with client security, technology and risk requirements
- Drive improvement of automation platforms and delivery practice
Growth
- Surface new automation and process improvement opportunities as you work across the business
- Support the wider Blackbook team on roadmaps, investment cases and client presentations
What you'll bring
Essential
- 6+ years in automation, business process improvement or digital transformation delivery
- Experience leading or mentoring developers, formally or informally
- Confident engaging business stakeholders directly - you can run a room, not just a standup
- Hands-on experience facilitating workshops and gathering requirements
- Working knowledge of governance frameworks and delivery methodologies
- Strong written and verbal communication
Technical - strong in at least one, exposure to several:
UiPath · Microsoft Power Platform / Power Automate · Intelligent Document Processing · Process Mining · Azure services · Generative and agentic AI · API integration
Desirable
- Consulting or professional services background
- Experience in regulated industries - utilities, government, infrastructure, transport, financial services
- Exposure to Automation CoE operating models
- Awareness of AI governance and responsible AI practice
Pay: $120,000.00 – $170,000.00 per year
