Cairns Hospital is the largest major referral hospital in Far North Queensland, providing specialized health services and comprehensive care to patients from the Torres Strait to Tully. Our population is 260,000 with First Nations people making up 14% of the region's population. Cairns Hospital provides a range of specialist outpatient, inpatient, and emergency services from its CBD site on the Cairns Esplanade and has over 500 inpatient beds.
Our ward is a 30-bed acute medical unit providing care for a complex patient population across the specialties of Renal, Respiratory, and Gastroenterology. The ward cares for individuals with a broad range of acute and chronic conditions, including COPD, asthma, chronic kidney disease, diabetes, congestive cardiac failure, cystic fibrosis, tuberculosis, liver disease, inflammatory bowel disease, and cancer.
About your role:
Your main tasks may include (but are not limited to):
Direct patient cares including assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)
Care of patients undergoing Peritoneal Dialysis or respiratory support (including non-invasive ventilation and high flow nasal prongs).
Discharge planning in consultation with the multi-disciplinary team.
