THE ROLE:
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Cook to join a busy kitchen team. The successful candidate will prepare and cook a diverse range of dishes, including meat, poultry, seafood and vegetarian meals, while maintaining consistently high standards of quality, presentation and food safety.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
· Prepare, season and cook a variety of dishes including beef, pork, poultry, seafood and vegetarian meals.
· Prepare ingredients and complete food preparation activities to ensure efficient service during busy trading periods.
· Follow established recipes, portion standards and presentation guidelines to maintain consistent food quality.
· Prepare and adapt meals to meet dietary requirements, including vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and other special dietary needs.
· Monitor the quality and freshness of raw ingredients and finished dishes to ensure required standards are maintained.
· Assist with stock rotation, inventory control and ordering kitchen supplies, while minimising food waste.
· Monitor cooking processes, temperatures and preparation methods to ensure meals are cooked and presented appropriately.
· Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and safe food handling throughout preparation, cooking and storage.
· Assist with the training, supervision and support of kitchen staff where required.
· Maintain a clean, organised and hygienic kitchen and ensure compliance with relevant workplace health and safety requirements.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
- Relevant qualification, such as a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or agreed equivalent).
- Minimum of 1 year of work experience as a Cook within a commercial kitchen, café or restaurant environment.
- Experience preparing a diverse range of meat, poultry, seafood and vegetarian dishes.
- Ability to accommodate vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and other dietary requirements.
- Experience following recipes, portion control requirements and presentation standards while maintaining consistent food quality.
- Experience with food preparation, stock rotation, inventory control, ordering and waste minimisation.
- Sound knowledge of Australia food safety requirements, hygiene standards and safe food handling practices.
- Ability to assess the quality and freshness of ingredients and finished dishes.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure, prioritise tasks and meet service deadlines in a fast-paced kitchen.
- Strong organisational, communication and teamwork skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and public holidays, as required.
