About the role
As Assistant Compliance Officers, you will undertake investigations, compliance and enforcement activities of a moderately complex nature, and operate under limited direction. The APS5 Assistant Compliance Officers will also provide administrative support and undertake operational tasks. Some successful applicants will be tasked with implementation of the new legislation once passed.
In this role you will:
- assess complaints and conduct standard investigations into potential breaches of gambling legislation and rules under limited direction
- undertake proactive monitoring and reviewing compliance with gambling legislation and regulations
- assist in the development of administrative arrangements to administer new gambling regulatory powers, including standard operating procedures and compliance strategies
- assist in the management of administrative functions, including the collation of data and preparation of regular reports
- implement and monitor enforcement actions, including remedial directions and enforceable undertakings
- produce accurate and timely briefings for a range of internal and external audiences, including the ACMA Authority
- develop relationships and work in collaboration with key internal and external stakeholders, including in other government/regulatory agencies.
Our ideal candidate
We are seeking highly motivated and experienced Assistant Compliance Officers who have:
- an understanding of, or the ability to quickly develop an understanding of the impacts of gambling harm
- experience in compliance and investigations, including the ability to interpret and apply legislation
- the ability to take initiative in performing the role, while working under broad direction
- excellent oral and written communications skills, including in writing well-reasoned reports and timely briefings
- the ability to collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders, including in other government agencies
- demonstrated capability against the Australian Public Service Commission Integrated Leadership System (ILS) APS 5 profile.
