About the role
We are seeking a Structural Engineer to join our team in Hemmant, Brisbane. This role is primarily within the marine industry, and previous marine industry experience would be an advantage. The Structural Engineer will design, analyse, assess and support the certification of structures to ensure they are safe, stable, durable and fit for their intended purpose. The role will develop practical and cost-effective structural solutions while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, Australian Stan5dards and engineering requirements.
In this role, you will:
- Design structural systems and other structures.
- Perform structural analysis and engineering calculations.
- Prepare engineering drawings, specifications, reports and certification documentation.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable legislation, Australian Standards and statutory requirements.
- Conduct structural inspections and assessments of existing and new structures.
- Identify structural risks and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Review naval, civil and other engineering plans for structural integrity and constructability.
- Coordinate with naval and civil architects, builders, contractors, surveyors and other consultants.
- Provide technical advice during design, fabrication and construction, including responding to design changes and technical queries.
- Undertake site inspections to verify work complies with approved structural designs.
- Manage project documentation and maintain accurate engineering records.
- Ensure projects are delivered within agreed quality, budget and time requirements while complying with workplace health and safety requirements and promoting safe engineering practices.
- Apply sound engineering judgement to solve technical problems.
- Maintain professional competency through continuing education and awareness of industry developments.
- Act ethically and professionally in accordance with engineering standards and company policies.
Qualifications and experience
- Demonstrated experience in structural design, analysis, calculations, drawings and technical reporting.
- Sound knowledge of relevant Australian Standards and statutory requirements.
- Strong engineering judgement, problem-solving, communication and project coordination skills.
- Experience in marine engineering, vessel construction or repair, structural steel, heavy fabrication or marine infrastructure is highly regarded.
- Current RPEQ registration is desirable.
- Commitment to workplace health and safety, quality and professional engineering practice.
Pay: $75,000.00 – $90,000.00 per year
