About the Role:
We are seeking experienced, compassionate and highly capable Disability Support Workers to join our team in supporting a participant with very high and complex support needs.
This is a rewarding opportunity for professionals who are confident working in complex environments, understand the importance of consistency and strong professional boundaries, and are committed to providing safe, respectful and genuinely person-centred support.
You will be a part of a dedicated support team providing care across a 24/7 roster, with a range of day, evening, overnight and weekend shifts available.
The participant has complex support requirements, including:
- High behaviour support needs
- High Mental health risk
- High Safeguarding Considerations
- Complex risk and support requirements
- A high level of clinical and management oversight
- Significant health vulnerabilities requiring strict infection control practices
Due to the participant being immunocompromised, all workers must be comfortable wearing full PPE throughout the entire shift, including N95 mask, gown or apron and shoe covers.
You will be required to consistently follow health, safety, safeguarding and support protocols while maintaining a warm, respectful and person-centred approach.
Commencement: Mid September
About you:
- Extensive experience working with people with complex disability and support needs
- Strong knowledge of the NDIS and person-centred practice
- Experience implementing Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) strategies and working in accordance with Behaviour Support Plans
- Experience supporting people with complex behaviours and/or mental health needs
- A strong understanding of trauma-informed practice
- Excellent communication skills, including experience with AAC or other communication supports
- Strong understanding of professional boundaries, safeguarding and duty of care
- Excellent documentation, progress notes and incident-reporting skills
- The ability to remain calm, professional and responsive during challenging situations
- Confidence working independently while contributing effectively to a multidisciplinary support team
- A commitment to infection prevention and strict PPE requirements
- A willingness to undertake ongoing training and professional development
Nursing experience or other relevant clinical experience will be highly regarded.
