About the Role
The Youth Transitions Support Intern is responsible for providing administrative, program, and event support to the YTS team while gaining hands-on experience in youth engagement and community development. The role includes innovative development and facilitation of group workshops and programs and empowering young people in their educational and career pathways. The aim is to engage CALD youth clients in activities and educational sessions to build their capacity, agency and independence. In addition, social media skills are required to build engagement with youth on online platforms and in activities.
This is a Part Time – 12 Months role based in Logan – working 18.5hrs per week
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and facilitate youth workshops and capacity-building activities for CALD young people.
- Provide academic tutoring, homework support, study skills and goal-setting assistance.
- Support the delivery of youth events, camps, expos and school holiday programs.
- Maintain attendance records, collect data, prepare resources and complete Salesforce (ICMS) reporting.
- Build relationships with schools, community organisations and young people through engagement and networking.
Essential Criteria
- Tertiary qualification or currently studying Social Work, Youth Work, Psychology, Education, Public Health, Social Sciences or a related discipline.
- Experience working with young people and/or in youth or community services is DESIRABLE.
- Basic facilitation and group engagement skills.
- Demonstrated ability and interest in working with young people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to manage complex and challenging situations constructively.
- Strong written and computer skills, including proficiency across Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent planning, organisation and time management skills.
- Ability to demonstrate innovation and creativity in program delivery.
- Ability to work collaboratively and contribute effectively within a team environment.
- Holder of a valid Drivers Licence
