Systems Manager leads and manages the development and operation of School Infrastructure Systems across directorates and functional areas.
This role delivers innovative technical and business solutions to ensure high-standard system performance, functionality, and reliability supporting the organisation’s objectives and corporate priorities.

What you’ll bring
- Demonstrated experience managing application security posture, including remediation of penetration test findings, vulnerability and patch management, and compliance with the NSW Cyber Security Policy and Essential 8.
- Strong ITSM discipline across incident, problem, change and release management, including SLA and support-model ownership for a business-critical application.
- Proven leadership capability in managing infrastructure systems, business applications, and delivery of complex technology programs.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, including negotiation and consultation with diverse groups in a specialised environment.
- Demonstrated expertise in project and system governance, change management, and interface/data exchange frameworks.
- Ability to deliver accurate, professional written outputs for high-level correspondence and technical documentation.
- A track record of building high-performing teams and driving continuous improvement in systems capability and reliability.
About you
- Balances security and currency obligations against delivery pressure and can articulate residual risk credibly to executive and audit audiences.
- Proven track record managing end-of-life technology risk and platform upgrade roadmaps (framework, runtime and library currency) in a constrained environment.
- Strong capability managing the end-to-end lifecycle of systems and applications (planning, implementation, operation, continuous improvement)
- Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology or Computer Science and/or demonstrated equivalent professional experience in the management and implementation of ICT systems.
- Sets clear priorities and delivers commitments within agreed timeframes, quality standards, and budgets
- Establishes system and project management protocols to support compliance and improve reliability
- Manages change effectively, including impact assessment and delivery of communication and training
- Highly collaborative; skilled in consultation, negotiation, and issues management with diverse internal and external stakeholders
- Stays current with emerging technologies and translates them into solutions for current and future business needs, even under tight deadlines and competing priorities
- Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
