Position Overview
The State Manager is accountable for the commercial and operational performance of Bentino's State operations. This role ensures that insurance repair and restoration works are delivered on time, on budget, and to client expectations, while maintaining panel compliance and client satisfaction.
The State Manager reports to the CCO for commercial accountability and works closely with the COO and National Operations Manager for operational delivery standards.
Growth Alignment: Bentino's objective is to become one of the larger insurance builders in Australia. The State Manager must demonstrate the ability to grow regional revenue, maintain panel compliance, and build local teams capable of handling increased volume.
Key Accountabilities
State Leadership & Commercial Accountability
- Hold commercial accountability for panel obligations, client satisfaction, revenue targets, and compliance.
- Execute state business plans aligned with Bentino's national objectives.
- Drive a culture of accountability, performance, and continuous improvement.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer needs within the state.
Operational Delivery
- Oversee day-to-day delivery of insurance repairs and restoration across the state.
- Ensure jobs are completed on time, on budget, and to required quality standards.
- Conduct regular site visits, audits, and performance reviews.
Financial & Commercial Performance (Revenue Targets)
- Own state P&L performance including revenue, costs, and profitability.
- Achieve annual state revenue target as agreed with CCO.
- Achieve state gross margin target (minimum [TBD]%).
- Manage state budgets, forecasts, and financial targets.
- Report regularly to CCO on state commercial performance.
Client & Panel Relationships
- Build and maintain relationships with insurers, loss adjusters, and brokers in the state.
- Ensure all insurer KPIs and job duration targets are consistently met.
- Maintain high levels of client satisfaction.
Trade Network & Supply Chain
- Build and maintain a strong, reliable, and cost-effective trade network in the state.
- Ensure subcontractor performance and compliance.
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop state team (Estimators, Coordinators, Supervisors).
- Recruit, onboard, and retain high-performing team members.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performance culture.
Safety & Compliance
- Champion workplace health and safety across state operations.
- Ensure zero workplace injuries and full compliance with WHS obligations.
Catastrophe Response
- Lead state response during catastrophe events and peak demand periods.
- Ensure rapid mobilisation of local teams and trade network.
General
- Liaise with staff across departments, including Finance, HR, Administration, Business Improvement, and Management.
- Attend and actively participate in representing Bentino in meetings, reviews, and industry events as needed.
- In addition to the accountabilities listed above, the employee may be required to perform other reasonable duties as directed by their manager, consistent with the skills and experience expected of this role.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Minimum 3 years in state or regional management within insurance building, construction, or insurance services.
- Strong commercial acumen and financial management skills including P&L ownership.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams.
- Understanding of insurance panel obligations and client KPIs.
- Established relationships with insurers, loss adjusters, or brokers in the state (preferred).
Desirable
- Catastrophe response experience.
- Knowledge of State trade network.
- Tertiary qualifications in Business, Construction Management, or related field.
